Celestron EdgeHD 14 — 356 mm aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain (CGE dovetail)

The EdgeHD 14 optical tube is Celestron's largest EdgeHD: a 356 mm (14-inch) aplanatic, flat-field Schmidt design at 3910 mm f/11. EdgeHD optics virtually eliminate field curvature and off-axis coma, giving pinpoint stars to the edge of large imaging sensors and wide-field eyepieces.

Three focal ratios

Use it at native f/11, at f/7 with the dedicated EdgeHD 1400 0.7× reducer, or at ultra-fast f/2 with third-party accessories, thanks to the removable secondary mirror (Fastar compatible). Celestron's optimised image circle is 42 mm, large enough for a full-frame sensor.

Imaging setup

The optimum back focus is 146.05 mm from the 3-inch baffle tube lock ring, or 133.35 mm from the 3-inch-to-2-inch reducer plate. The EdgeHD T-adapter for the 14-inch threads onto the 3.29-inch × 16 TPI thread and, with a standard 55 mm camera spacing, places the sensor at the correct distance.

Compatibility notes

EdgeHD 14 OTA with CGE dovetail, not C14 (standard SCT). Celestron OTA page lists f/11; some Celestron package pages state f/10. Use EdgeHD 1400 0.7x reducer (94240), not the generic 0.63x reducer.
