The TEC 180 mm fluorite refractor provides a 1260 mm focal length at f/7. Its oil-spaced fluorite triplet is intended for visual observing and astronomical imaging. The fluorite element is calcium fluoride, positioned between the two outer elements of the triplet.
The objective uses a precision aluminium cell. An aluminium tube with internal anti-reflective treatment and baffles helps suppress stray light.
The supplied focusing arrangement is Starlight Instruments Feather Touch FTF3545; rotating; 9:1 fine reduction; 2-inch collet. TEC specifies 210 mm ±1 from the focuser reference to the focal plane; this telescope backfocus is distinct from the spacing of an optional reducer or flattener.
The manufacturer lists an OTA weight of 16.5 kg and a retracted/transport length of 1130 mm. Accessory-loaded weights, where supplied, are shown separately in the technical table.

Current exact-model TEC page used; old ED or earlier-generation manuals are not substituted. Published metric dimensions are selected where imperial conversions disagree. Additional focuser-extension row omitted: source pairs 3.5 inches with 114 mm, which are not equivalent. Current table gives 16.5 kg OTA weight; older January 2022 sketch gives 16.3 kg.
