The miniCAM8M Deep Sky Combo combines a cooled Sony IMX585 camera and an eight-position internal filter carousel in a compact 480 g housing. Its back-illuminated sensor has 2.9 µm pixels and a published 3856 × 2180 total pixel array.
The monochrome Deep Sky Combo set includes seven filters: LRGB plus 7 nm H-alpha, SII and OIII narrowband filters. QHY specifies OD5 blocking for this set. All filters measure 19 × 12 × 1.1 mm; each filter set includes a disc and tweezers.
The sensor has dual 12-bit readout combined into 16-bit output. QHY’s software-assisted Linearity HDR mode specifies 46 ke full well, 1.0-electron read noise and 15.5 stops / 93 dB dynamic range. Gain and offset are fixed in this mode. Standard published figures are 54 ke full well and 0.76–7.8-electron read noise.
Two-stage TEC cooling reaches approximately 45 °C below ambient during exposures longer than one second under QHY’s stated operating conditions. A 512 MB DDR3 buffer and USB 3.0 connection support up to 41.5 fps at 8-bit output or 23.5 fps at 16-bit output at full resolution.
The camera has 17.5 mm backfocus. Follow the manufacturer connection diagram for 1.25-inch, 2-inch and C-mount arrangements; a C-mount lens thread must be shorter than 3.5 mm. Connect external 12 V power before USB and maintain the specified 11–13.8 V at the camera.
QHYCCD manufacturer documentation
Use the named-model manufacturer connection diagram and the backfocus reference for the selected adapter. Readout mode and output format affect frame rate, noise and full-well capacity.
