The Askar 50P is a compact 50 mm f/3.8 astrograph with a 190 mm focal length. Its four-element Petzval system includes one SD element and a cemented rear doublet. Askar specifies APS-C coverage, with optimisation for 1-inch sensors.
The self-flattened system supports a 50–65 mm camera connection distance, with 55 mm recommended. Focus the assembled train within that range. The rear M48×0.75 adapter contains a 2-inch filter thread, and the front accepts 52 mm photographic filters.
A single-speed helical focusing ring has MXL teeth for an optional motor-focuser belt. A separate graduated rotation adjustment locks the camera angle. The integrated handle/ring has an Arca-Swiss-compatible slot, two finder bases and M4 accessory holes. Removing the 160 mm dovetail exposes the finder-mount arrangement for guidescope use.
The reversible bayonet hood reduces storage length. Askar lists 147 mm contracted and 182 mm extended, with 1.4 kg including ring and dovetail. The standard package contains the OTA with M48 adapter and documentation; an electronic focuser is optional.
