The TEC 140 mm fluorite refractor provides a 1345 mm focal length at f/9.6. Its air-spaced fluorite doublet is intended for high-magnification visual and planetary observing. The fluorite element is calcium fluoride, positioned at the rear/inner position of the doublet.
The objective uses a precision aluminium cell. An aluminium tube with internal anti-reflective treatment and baffles helps suppress stray light. TEC specifies anti-reflective and hydrophobic coatings for the objective from 2025.
The supplied focusing arrangement is Starlight Instruments Feather Touch FTF2545; 9:1 fine reduction; 2-inch collet. TEC specifies 250mm from the focuser reference to the focal plane; this telescope backfocus is distinct from the spacing of an optional reducer or flattener.
The manufacturer lists an OTA estimated weight of 7.7kg and a retracted/transport length of 1120mm. Accessory-loaded weights, where supplied, are shown separately in the technical table.
