The Askar 80ED is an 80 mm aperture refractor with a 560 mm focal length at f/7. Its two-element objective combines one ED element with a conventional achromatic-glass element for visual observing and astrophotography.
The 2-inch dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser has 70 mm travel, an enlarged locking screw and mounting holes for an optional electronic focuser. The rear 2-inch adapter uses a protective internal lining. Askar offers dedicated 1×, 0.85× and 0.7× imaging correctors separately, each with a rotator. The imaging system is optimised for APS-C while supporting full frame.
Two internal baffles suppress stray light. The hood can be reversed and screwed back for transport. Thumb-operated tube rings, a slotted handle, dual finder bases and a 200 mm Vixen-style dovetail support mounting and accessories.
Askar lists 404 mm length with the hood contracted and 505 mm extended, 1.7 kg OTA and 2 kg including mounting hardware. The standard package contains the OTA, rings, handle, dovetail and documentation. Correctors, eyepieces, diagonal, camera and electronic focuser are optional.
