Evostar 72ED — 72/420 ED doublet

The Evostar 72ED is a compact 72 mm ED doublet with a 420 mm focal length and f/5.8 focal ratio. It offers a lightweight platform for wide-field astronomy and imaging, with low-dispersion optics and MHTC coatings to suppress false colour and improve transmission.

Tube and mounting

The internally baffled aluminium tube has a Black Diamond finish. Tube rings and a V-style dovetail provide the mounting interface, and a foam-lined aluminium case is supplied for storage and transport.

Model identification

This is the original 72ED specification, rather than the shorter Japanese 72ED II revision. The global manufacturer page gives a 2 kg OTA weight and 420 mm tube length.

Original global 72ED retained. Manufacturer table incorrectly labels 144× as focuser diameter; that entry is omitted rather than inventing a focuser dimension. Japanese 72ED II dimensions are not substituted.
