10Micron GM4000 HPS II ColdTemp combines the 150 kg instrument capacity of the standard mount with the manufacturer’s special low-temperature configuration. It is a German equatorial HPS mount with absolute on-axis encoders, precision worm gearing and two-axis brushless servo drive.

Cold-temperature equipment

10Micron specifies operation down to −30 °C for this option, using special low-temperature lubricants, silicone-sheathed wiring and suitable electronics. This is an operating specification for the ColdTemp build, not the much lower storage-temperature figure. It does not certify every attached camera, cable or third-party accessory for the same conditions.

Mechanics and performance

The model retains the standard mechanical architecture, 125 kg mount weight without accessories, 60 mm counterweight shaft and 2–8°/s published slewing range. The onboard model supports up to 100 points and compensates polar, orthogonality, refraction and flexure errors.

Control and installation

The 24 V DC system supports keypad and compatible remote computer/web control. Counterweights are separate. Match the power supply and GPS receiver to the actual control-box generation, and use the model-specific technical sheet and support interface for installation.

Compatibility notes

The current GM4000 technical sheet specifies 4 A maximum-slew and 5 A peak; older brochures give 5 A and 6 A. Current model technical-sheet values are selected. Its 60 mm internal cable passage is distinct from its 60 mm counterweight shaft. The product-page Cold Temperature option explicitly states −30 °C; the technical-sheet “−30/−35” wording is not treated as an unconditional −35 °C guarantee.
