The original Evostar 150ED is a 150 mm ED doublet with a 1200 mm focal length at f/8. It provides an unobstructed optical system for detailed lunar and planetary observing and imaging with suitable equipment.
Optical and mechanical design
Sky-Watcher’s original catalogue describes metallic high-transmission coatings, a dual-speed focuser and an aluminium carrying case. The ED doublet design is intended to limit chromatic aberration while keeping the lens assembly simpler than a triplet.
Original model distinction
The standard 150ED is distinct from the DX/Deluxe version with its larger rack-and-pinion focuser and upgraded attachment hardware. It is also distinct from the newer retractable-hood EDX. The manufacturer catalogue does not publish a complete dimensional table for the standard version, so DX/EDX tube measurements are not assigned to it.
