10Micron GM1000 HPS — original 25 kg model

The original 10Micron GM1000 HPS is a 25 kg instrument-capacity German equatorial mount. It weighs approximately 19.5 kg without accessories and uses absolute encoders on both axes to close the control loop around its precision worm-drive system.

Mechanics and adjustment

The manufacturer brochure lists 30 mm alloy-steel axes, preloaded tapered roller bearings and 250-tooth, 125 mm bronze worm wheels. Slewing is adjustable from 2 to 15°/s. Latitude adjustment covers 0–82°, with a separate 90° option, and fine azimuth adjustment is ±7.5°.

Model-based tracking

The onboard controller supports multi-star pointing models with up to 100 stars, compensating polar alignment, orthogonality, atmospheric refraction and flexure. The model is central to unguided tracking performance; an individual telescope setup is not guaranteed to reproduce every manufacturer example.

Power and installation

The mount uses 24 V DC, with approximately 0.5 A tracking current, 3 A at maximum speed and 4 A peak in the brochure. The stainless-steel counterweight shaft is 30 mm diameter and weighs 1.7 kg. This record retains the original model’s 25 kg rating and 30 mm axes rather than substituting the newer 30 kg EP specifications.

Compatibility notes

Original GM1000 HPS identified using the manufacturer pre-EP brochure hosted by its official regional site. No EP payload, reinforced-axis or current control-box package is assumed. The exact supplied generation and accessories are not represented as a new EP package.
