The ASI992MM Pro is a cooled monochrome short-wave infrared camera using Sony’s InGaAs IMX992 sensor. Its 0.4–1.7 µm spectral range extends beyond ordinary visible-light astronomy cameras into SWIR.
The 8.942 × 7.093 mm sensor records 2592 × 2056 pixels with 3.45 µm pixels and a 12-bit ADC. ZWO lists 62.8 ke full well, 71-electron read noise, up to 70 fps and estimated peak QE above 80% at 1200 nm. These are ASI992 figures, distinct from the lower-resolution ASI990 and ASI991 models.
Two-stage TEC cooling is specified at 35–40 °C below ambient in ZWO’s 30 °C test conditions. Zero amp-glow circuitry, a 256 MB DDR3 buffer and USB 3.0 connection support image capture.
Use a 12 V DC, 3–5 A supply with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm centre-positive connector, or an 11–14 V battery. The M42 × 0.75 connection provides 6.5 mm bare sensor spacing, or 17.5 mm with the 11 mm ring. Select optics and filters with transmission appropriate to the intended SWIR wavelength range.
