The QHY294M Pro is a cooled monochrome astronomy camera using SONY IMX492. This monochrome IMX492 camera provides two distinct sampling modes: standard 11.7 MP at 4.63 µm and 14-bit ADC, or unlocked approximately 46.8 MP at 2.315 µm and 12-bit ADC. Changing mode also changes full well, read noise and frame rate; values from the two modes must be compared separately.
QHY’s published ADC specification is 14-bit A/D. A 256MB DDR3 Memory Buffer image buffer supports downloads through USB3.0. Monochrome capture supports separate luminance, RGB and narrowband filter exposures. Full-frame and region-of-interest rates depend on readout mode and output format; the table below preserves those conditions.
Manufacturer cooling specification: Dual Stage TEC cooler(about -35℃ below ambient, test temperature +20℃). Cooling reduces thermal signal during long exposures, and performance depends on ambient conditions and capture rate. The camera has the manufacturer-listed dew-control provisions shown in the table.
The listed interface is M42/0.75, with backfocus of 17.5mm(±0.2). Add the optical contribution of the selected adapters, filter wheel and guider when planning the telescope connection.
Use an external 12 V supply before connecting the USB data cable. QHY’s operating guide specifies 11–13.8 V at the camera; cable voltage drop must be included in the power budget. Use the manufacturer-specified power adapter. Install the matching QHY All-in-One driver/SDK and compatible capture software.
QHYCCD manufacturer documentation
Use the named-model manufacturer connection diagram and the backfocus reference for the selected adapter. Readout mode and output format affect frame rate, noise and full-well capacity.
| Standard sampling mode | 11.7 MP; 4164 × 2796 pixels; 4.63 µm; 14-bit ADC |
|---|---|
| Unlocked sampling mode | 46.8 MP nominal; 2.315 µm; 12-bit ADC according to manufacturer mode overview |
| Unlocked frame rate note | The manufacturer table separately prints 8340 × 5644 at 4 fps; the mode overview specifies 12-bit ADC for unlocked mode. These are retained as distinct published statements, not a 14-bit unlocked-mode guarantee. |
