The ASI294MC is an uncooled colour astronomy camera built around the Sony IMX294. Its 19.1 × 13 mm sensor records 4144 × 2822 pixels with 4.63 µm sampling.
The manufacturer specifies a 14-bit ADC, 63,700-electron full well, 90% peak quantum efficiency and read noise of As low as 1.2 electrons. Capture speed is 19 fps at 12-bit; 16.3 fps at 14-bit. Smaller regions of interest can increase frame rate; speed depends on ADC mode, output format, exposure and connection.
One-shot colour capture records colour during a single imaging sequence. High-speed video allows short exposures and frame selection for lunar and planetary imaging.
The USB connection supplies power and transfers images. The camera uses a M42 × 0.75 interface, with 6.5 mm bare; 17.5 mm with 11 mm ring sensor spacing. Its AR-coated window protects the sensor. The body is 62 mm in diameter and weighs 140 g. Match optical adapters and any external filter to the required telescope spacing.
