The QHY174GPS is a cooled monochrome camera combining Sony’s IMX174 global-shutter sensor with GPS-referenced exposure timing. The 1920 × 1200 array uses 5.86 µm pixels on an 11.25 × 7.03 mm imaging area.
QHY specifies 1 µs GPS UTC timestamp precision for applications such as stellar occultations and other time-sensitive observations. The global shutter exposes the frame simultaneously. This figure is the manufacturer’s timing specification rather than a physical test of an individual camera.
The published full well exceeds 32 ke. Read noise is 5.3 electrons at gain 0, 2.8 electrons at 60% gain and 1.6 electrons at full gain. Capture rates reach 138 fps at 8-bit or 75.1 fps at 16-bit output over USB 3.0; the ADC itself is 12-bit.
Two-stage TEC cooling is specified at 40 °C below ambient in a 20 °C test environment. The camera has an AR+AR window, anti-dew heater, 4-pin filter-wheel connection, 17.5 mm backfocus and 450 g published weight.
Supply external 12 V before USB connection. QHY’s guide gives an 11–13.8 V operating range and additionally advises keeping the input at or above 11.5 V. Published consumption is 27 W at full cooling, 12 W at 50% and 3 W with cooling off.
